In 1984, Royal Dhahrani began to take delivery of A310-200 aircraft, serving to increase capacity significantly on shorter flights, as well as add the ability to operate medium-range routes without the demand to justify a DC-10. The first route operated by an A310 was Ras Al Qua to Tripoli. Soon afterwards (in 1986) A310-300s began to be delivered, and found wider use due to their longer range. The most popular route operated by the A310-200 for much of the 80s and 90s became the shuttle service operated between Ras Al Qua and Dubai (6x daily), Abu Dhabi (4x daily), Doha (4x daily), Medina (4x daily) and Riyadh (6x daily).

1984 also saw the introduction of an amended livery. The English-language title font was changed, and the positions of the English and Arabic titles on the left side of the aircraft was switched. Additionally, the tail design was changed for the second time in five years, changing the size and position of the hawk logo and removing some of the pattern as well as the redundant 'Dhahrani' title. This livery update was repainted onto the two 747SPs in addition to being painted new on each of the airline's A310s, however was not retroactively applied onto any of the other aircraft types.

Disclaimer: This project is designed to look at the progression of aviation in a more-or-less generic fictional Middle Eastern state. Any similarities to real people, locations, or situations may be intentional. I have zero knowledge of Arabic, so while I have spent considerable time trying to get it right, mistakes are possible, and any advice is greatly appreciated.

The calligraphy is amazing, but the rest of the design is not. I think you should go stronger with the calligraphy, make it the centre of attention, and make all the other things as just supporting elements.

im digging this livery, i wub the tail too

I disagree, this particular design is a cliche. The design could be miles better

You mean the bird or something else?

You mean the bird or something else?

    Yes the calligraphy bird

I like the tiles at the top of the tail but I agree with Ostrich about the calligraphy bird.  It is like the tribal tat of airplanes.
