Air Malawi | Vickers VC10 Type 1103

7Q-YKH (cn.819) was a VC10 type 1103 delivered to British United in 1964. She flew under the registration G-ASIW for BUA, was briefly leased to Sierra Leone Airways, then returned to British United. After spending some time in the British Caledonian livery after BUA's rebranding, she was sold to Air Malawi in 1974 and was reregistered. Spending five years with the east-African carrier, she was then stored in Hurn for a few years, before returning to Chileka in Malawi and being stored there for almost a decade and a half, after which she was sadly scrapped. Interestingly, being BUA's first VC10, cn.819 was used in 1964 to test different configurations of aerodynamic modifications to the wing.

Note: My Vickers Type 1101 (passenger) template is now available in the templates section of the forum. The Type 1103 (combi) template that this is made on will be uploaded soon.
