AeroCalifornia A220-300 (2018 Revised Livery)

AeroCalifornia Group's order of 60 of the then Bombardier CSeries prompted a large scale dispute between the airline and Boeing due to Boeing's strong resistance effort against the aircraft being sold to US customers. AeroCalifornia had been in discussions with various manufacturers including Embraer, Bombardier and Boeing over the replacement of its E-Series jets, ultimately the Embraer E2 and 737-7MAX were not chosen and instead the airline signed a contract with Bombardier for 60 of the aircraft intended to go to AeroCalifornia, Kalakala Airlines and Surfrider. Along with an order from New England Airlines, Boeing filed a price dumping petition alleging the 60 aircraft sold to AeroCalifornia were steeply discounted and would be sanction to trade tariffs of up to 300% per aircraft, this escalated into a public squabble between the two companies as AeroCalifornia announced it would be forced to cancel over 120 orders for the 737MAX due to the excessive tariff costs this would impose on the airline if Boeing decided to continue its action.

A later announcement was made after Boeing asserted its position that the airline was in discussions with Airbus regarding an order of A320neo jets with sister airline Kalakala Airlines already operating the type and having several orders placed. The dispute between Boeing and AeroCalifornia was brought to a close when Airbus announced it would take a 51% stake in the program and all A220s destined for AeroCalifornia would be built at its Mobile assembly plant thus, negating trade tariffs.

The first A220 was delivered September this year and featured AeroCalfornia's refreshed livery with minor alterations to the tail and titles for a cleaner looking design hat will be applied to the fleet in good course.
