Boeing 747-400D | JA752N

Nihon Airlines' first domestic 747SR arrived in 1973. The 747SR marked the beginning of a 43-year history of domestic 747 service in Japan, ending with Nihon's domestic flagship 747-400D aircraft that began delivery in 1996. 11 -400D Empresses of the Sky were delivered in total, with each being able to carry 568 passengers in a two-class configuration.

-400D aircraft can be distinguished from their -400 sisters by the lack of winglets and wingtip extensions, as well as two additional windows on the port side (four on the starboard side). Nihon's fleet of -400D aircraft were based out of Tokyo's Haneda Airport and operated for 20 years before being retired in the spring of 2016, in favor of more fuel-efficient (yet smaller) Boeing 777-300 aircraft and additional frequencies to compete with Japan's bullet train system.

Finally, a 747-400D with the two extra windows on the upper deck! I've always wanted to see if people noticed.
