Omanwings Boeing 737-800 (2007-present)

Omanwings started flying in 1997 with a small fleet of 2 Boeing 737-400s. The airline quickly grew, and with the 737-400 production coming to an end, the next logical move would be the newer variant. Since 1999 the 737-800 has become the mainstay of the Omanwings fleet. As of 2018 there are 35 of them in operation, flying to destinations in Africa, the Middle East, Asia and Europe.

Starting May 2018, Omanwings will take delivery of 40 new 737 MAX 9 aircraft. The MAX 9s will take over a large part of the routes currently operated by the 737-800, allowing the smaller aircraft to launch new, lower-demand routes. The 15 737-800s that were delivered before 2004 will be retired by the end of 2019, being replaced by the larger MAX 9.

A4O-AX is the 24th 737-800 to be delivered to Omanwings. It first flew on January 26th, 2008, and was delivered on February 24th. It first flew the following morning on the Muscat-Islamabad route. It is equipped with 16 Business Class seats in a 2-2 layout with 40'' of pitch, and 132 Economy Class seats in a 3-3 layout with 32'' of pitch. It will be retrofitted with new slimline seats featuring personal IFE screens and the Boeing Sky Interior, along with WiFi, on the aircraft's next C-check, scheduled for November 2018.
