The B767 would become an important aircraft for islantilles, at the time it had only 1 B747-200 flying 2-4x times a week between Aruba and Amsterdam, however the costs of the aircraft was overwhelming the airline of 26 planes at the time. As Soon as the first 767 began service the B747 was sold of and this was the right decision for the airline as the direct service from Aruba to Amsterdam became one of the airlines most profitable routes in the 1980's thanks to the 767's. Without these planes, the airline would have struggled to stay above water.
Thanks to the B767 the flights to Amsterdam were once again profitable and were now flying 2x a week from Aruba and 1x a week from St. Martin the airline had a load factor of 88% on these routes for the next 7 years due to the impeccable aircraft. The airline operated 2 out of the 3 it ordered by the beginning of 1984 and the next one would be painted in the new livery. These 2 planes also soon began service to LAX (2x weekly) JFK (2x weekly) and MIA (3x weekly) all from Aruba the average load factor on these routes was an outstanding 86% and these international routes where the golden ticket for the airline, and therefore in 1985 the airline ordered an additional 2 B767's
