As the 737 fleet passed 20 years of age, Hellenic decided to retire them by 2010, to be fully replaced by the A320 family. Most were retired by 2007 after the start of the economic crisis to save costs and try to operate more fuel efficient aircraft.

Pretty much, and Hellenic has already invested a lot of money into Airbus aircraft, especially the Airbus A320 family which was deemed more suitable for the airline.

Oh, I get what you mean now. In that case the A319 is the best idea as Hellenic transitions to Airbus it's best to maintain fleet commonality. Having a 737 in the same fleet as an A320 simply doesn't make sense.
