Umiaq Airbus A319

Umiaq Airbus A319

Just a little concept taken from when I was doing the story for the Gulf International DC-9s. The logo's inspiration coming from the logos of Royal Arctic and Arctic Umiaq Lines.

Named after the open-skin boat used by the indigenous peoples of the Arctic from Alaska to Greenland, Umiaq is Greenland's flag carrier, based in Nuuk and Kangerlussuaq. It's jointly owned by SagaAir and the governments of both Denmark and Greenland. Most of its fleet are comprised of Helicopters and STOL commuter aircraft which serve as vital links to the main towns and beyond, however it also operates four jets for scheduled weekly and charter services across the Atlantic to Europe and North America.

Umiaq operates 2 ex-SagaAir Airbus A319s in a 12 Thule Business, 108 Arctic Economy configuration. It is often utilised on most of the airline's weekly flights to Europe (Copenhagen being the exception, using the A330-200s), as well as to Montreal, Edmonton (seasonal) and Anchorage (seasonal). While it had a solely-red livery since its delivery, in 2016 livery was updated slightly with new titles and the addition of native fauna displayed towards the rear of the fuselage and the tail; the A319s have a Blessing of Narwhals depicted on its liveries.
