In the early months of 2005 Royal Canadian has signed a MOU with Boeing to order 25 Dreamliners, which were due to be delivered from 2012. But for reasons were all to familiar with the orders were cancelled in 2008 as the airline struggled to recover from a drastic fall in air travel across Canada.

However in the turn of the decade in July of 2010 the airline has ordered 33 787 jets, 11 of which were set to be the 787-10 variant. Deliveries of the smaller -8 and -9 variants have started in 2013 and 2017 respectively. However just yesterday the airline celebrated it's first 787-10 delivery at Toronto Airport.
