Gulf International DC 9 30

Gulf International DC 9 30

The Douglas DC-9 family became the aircraft of choice for Gulf when it was time to retire the reliable regional fleet of Convair CV-440s. First delivered in 1967 with the -20 variant, the DC-9s capacity, range and short-field performance enabled allowed exponential growth in both passenger numbers and the number of communities being served. The relative speed and lack of noise enabled Gulf to brand the DC-9 (as well as the larger Boeing 727) as "WhisperDarts," a nickname that became associated with the airline throughout the South and beyond throughout the years. In 1970 when the last CV-440 was retired, Gulf became one of the few major US airlines to operate entirely with Jet-powered aircraft. In 1971 the first -30 entered service with Gulf, providing extra capacity on mainline flights out of Texas and Florida, was well as additional services throughout the Gulf Shuttle network.

A re-upload of my original DC-9 with slight modifications to fit the rest of the fleet.
