RAS fleet - 2016

Royal Australian Airlines' fleet, circa 2016. The regional fleet, operating only in Tazmania, consisting of one Convair CV-440. This aircraft has operated since 1959, and continues to fly passengers to three destinations on Tasmania. A turbine upgrade is in the works, replacing the R2800 radials with Allison turboprops. Customer surveys do not want to see this aircraft replaced, and the airline has several donor aircraft to keep it flying safely.

The short-haul fleet, consisting of the 717, MD-87, and MD-90; operating throughout Australia and serving New Zealand. These aircraft are all being replaced by a massive CS100/300 order, due to come in 2020.

The long haul fleet, consisting of eight 767-200s, 14 747-400s, and four Concordes. The 767 fleet is due for replacement, possibly with 737-10MAX aircraft, but no decision has been made yet. The 747-400 replaced RAS' fleet of 747-200/300 aircraft, and is expected to soldier on until either 747-8i or 777-200LR aircraft can replace them. Concorde, the only aircraft left in the fleet with a different livery (a necessity), soldiers on on supersonic routes to Hawaii, Japan. and South Korea. The 35 year old aircraft are in remarkably good shape, and will continue to fly as long as demand remains.

The cargo fleet consists of 6 Boeing 777F aircraft. These are used throughout Australia and SE Asia.

    Concorde and Convair in 2016?

    Concorde and Convair in 2016?

Sure!  They're good fun, and more interesting than a Dash-8 and nothing.

I gotta admit, that Convair is sexy as hell!  I saw one come into the FBO I worked at (in 2015) and it was by far the highlight of the year.

Yeah, there was always a couple on the ramp at CYYJ when I did my CPL there.. I loved seeing them every day.

    Convair I can see. Concorde I can't..

Also, I'm surprised by the 747-8I, I thought that you'd stick with the "aged fleet" theme and have maybe a 747-200 or 747-300. Otherwise I kinda like it!

You might be on to something there.  Time to swap it out for a 744.

    EDIT:  Done!

    Concorde and Convair in 2016?
