Reliant Airlines Cargo DC-10-30CF

After a brief history of operating Boeing 707s and 727s in the charter air cargo market, Reliant Air Cargo in 1981 received it's first widebody Douglas DC-10 Convertible Freighter from Vanguard Airlines, after the company had encountered problems with the Convertible process. Reliant operated the aircraft strictly as freighters, becoming one of the first airlines to do so. The DC-10 fleet frequently flew military charter flights and transpacific cargo flights from Japan and China to the contiguous US via Anchorage. Based in Charleston, SC, and Huntsville, AL, the DC-10 remained a workhorse in the Reliant fleet until the introduction of the 747-400F and MD-11F in the late 1990s. Most airframes were scrapped.
