Air Bengal 777 (1989-2005 Livery)

Founded in 1931 as Bengal Empire Airways Corporation (B.E.A.C) the airline adopted its current name in 1967 in order to move away from its colonial roots. Despite this the famous callsign 'Viceroy' remains in use to this day as a nod to the airline's long history.

This was the airline's first Boeing 777 arriving in 1998 and flying the BOM-CCU-HND route for her maiden flight, she appears here in the livery introduced in 1989 featuring the iconic temple windows that first appeared (albeit with a more intricate design) on the Boeing 707 and Vickers VC-10s in the early 1960s. Although these were dropped in the 2005 scheme that replaced this one, Air Bengal confirmed early this year their latest livery is to mark the return of the temple windows to the aircraft.

VT-BRL is due to be retired by the end of this year as the 777-200 fleet is currently being replaced by the newer Boeing 787 and Airbus A330 aircraft.

    The detail

    Aesthetically pleasing. Neat.

The blue doesn't quite pop enough for me. But this is good.

    Classy and elegant. Lovely
