Kalakala Airlines A319

Named after the Chinook word for 'bird' Kalakala Airlines came about as a result of the deregulated airline industry with a single Boeing 727 flying from Seattle to Juneau and Oakland, as the years went by the airline grew into one of the largest low-fare airlines on the west coast operating a fleet of A320 series across the US.

In 1996 AeroCalifornia, the large low-fare airline based in San Diego announced it had acquired a controlling stake in Kalakala, this stake was later increased until approval was given for AeroCalifornia to acquire Kalakala Airlines, both fly under their separate brands and fleets as the largest airline group based on the west coast.
