AeroRio 737-800

To kick off 2017 decided to bring my first airline back from the dead...

AeroRio was founded in 1996 with a single Boeing 737-300 operating from Rio de Janeiro Galeao to Sao Paulo Congonhas and Salvador. The airline grew to become Brazil's largest low-cost airline with hubs in GIG, CGH and POA with a focus city at SSA, the first 737-800 arrived in 2003 and as of 2006 the -300s have been retired.

The airline now operates a large number of Boeing 737 next gen aircraft with a mix of -800s and -700s in the fleet and a small number of Embraer E190s operating from SDU. It is due to be the 737MAX launch customer in Latin America with 50 on order.

This livery was introduced in 2012 and has since been repainted on the entire fleet, featuring the Southern Cross at the nose as a nod to its predecessor airline Linhas Aereas Brasileiro which went into bankruptcy in 1992 (livery on its way soon).

    Nice!
